As we age and accumulate skin damage, the rate at which skin cells renew themselves slows down. It takes on average 28-30 days for there to be a turnover of cells on young healthy skinned person and 35 + for older people. The result is the surface of the skin becomes blocked, clogged with dead roughened skin cells, resulting in wrinkles, acne, and hyperpigmentation.
After consulting with our aesthetician, she will use a specific formula for your chemical peel based on the characteristics of your skin and your desired result.
Peels can be done once, but it may take a series to receive optimal results.

Light Chemical Peels
These peels are used to treat fine wrinkling, areas of dryness, uneven pigmentation, and acne. The solution used for light chemical peels is usually comprised of alphahydroxy acids (AHAs), such as glycolic, lactic, salicylic, or fruit acids. Light chemical peels are ideal for people who want the benefits of a facial peel but do not wish to spend the time required to recover from a deeper peel.

Salicylic Peel
Acne is formed when skin cells inside hair follicles shed too fast and clump together, plugging up the follicle and causing a pimple. Salicylic acid helps slow down shedding of the cells inside the follicles, preventing clogging. Salicylic acid also helps break down blackheads and whiteheads.
Glycolic Peel
Gycolic Acid Peels loosens the glue like substance that binds skin cells together to allow new skin to surface more quickly and easily. It also unblocks follicles which lead to acne conditions and increase cell turnover and improves the production of collagen. The new skin may also have a more rejuvenated look producing a more even colour and smoother texture.

Medium to Deeper Chemical Peels
These chemical peels work well for treating fine surface wrinkles, superficial blemishes, and pigmentation problems. Deeper peels are used to treat coarse facial wrinkles, blotches caused by aging or sun exposure, and pre-cancerous growths. While a deeper chemical peels produces the most dramatic, longest-lasting results, tthey often require more healing time.
