Urodynamics
Do you leak urine? Do you have to run to the toilet the moment you think of urinating? If so, you are not alone. Involuntary loss or urine (urinary incontinence) affects, and is a source of embarrassment for millions of women. Female incontinence can often be fixed with medication, surgery, or both. Urodynamics is a sophisticated office test that helps the physician help diagnose the type of incontinence you may be suffering from. This procedure involves inserting a very thin catheter in the urethra (tube through which you urinate) and into your bladder. A second thin catheter is inserted in the vagina. These catheters will evaluate pressure from the bladder as well as the abdomen. The bladder is filled slowly using sterile water. Pressures are monitored, calculated and outlined for Dr. Imtiaz to review. There is no preparation necessary for this procedure and recovery is immediate. Most of the time this procedure takes about one hour to complete. You will be given a prescription for antibiotics to take at home to reduce the risk of bladder infection after this procedure.
